In view of a situation that required my [wheelchair van] to be serviced recently, I think it is important for you to know how my circumstance was handled by your service manager, Pete Potvin and your service tech, Ben Goupil.

To sum it up in one word, I would have to say, MAGNIFICENT. Pete did all he could, to see to it that the part needed, was shipped in a soon as possible…Ben was able to [fix] my ramp so that I was able to use my vehicle. He really went out of his way and showed a remarkable knowledge of the vans systems to override the system temporarily so that I could use my van…They are obviously a reflection on your management philosophy and training programs. I will continue to boast and recommend your company whenever I am asked about a conversion van.

I recently purchased a 2007 Toyota Sienna with the AEVIT 2.0 system steering/gas/brake, etc. My dealer is in Beltsville, MD. Scott Clendinen is the tech who installed and fitted the system. After installation and an initial fitting, Scott had me in PERFECT position, needing no further adjustments. Scott's expertise, intuition, creativity make him an INVALUABLE ride-away employee. His patience and communication skills are also valuable assets. I thought you should know this so that you can assure that he stays and grows with the company. My story starts with an accident I had in October of 2010 that completely destroyed my van. That van was equipped by Ride-Away. I was paralyzed at age 17. That was approximately 35 years. I learn to drive when I was 15 years old. After the accident at age 17, I lost my ability to drive. Your company gave me back that ability approximately 2 years ago. I started driving again in 2008. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Ride-Away, I was back on the road again. That van gave me more freedom than I ever imagined having again in life. It gave me the ability to go when I wanted to go. I didn't have to wait on anyone to picked me up and carry me places. That van gave me back the freedom I lost at age 17. Before I got the van, my travels were very limited. I rarely ever went out of State. But after receiving the van, I traveled to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and other places. For 35 years I was not able to visit those places. The van that Ride-Away equipped for me, open up a whole new world for me. I was all over the place.

My motto to Richard has always been “There’s no quit in Kattar” and I can only say how very grateful I am, there’s also no quit in Dave!  You never gave up that we would one day be successful in navigating through all of the VA procedures in eventually securing the assistance in obtaining a wheel-chair accessible van that Richard certainly deserves….Yesterday (Sunday) we enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Ft. I want to thank Barry Zital for the outstanding service he provided in completing a safety recall fix (Steering Column Upper Bracket Safety Recall) for my 2000 Toyota Avalon. When I left my Avalon at Charles Barker Toyota on Tuesday, 16 Nov, they called me to tell me they could not perform the recall fix because I had hand controls installed on my vehicle. The hand controls would need to be uninstalled before they could complete the fix. I called Ride Away who had installed my hand controls and talked to Barry who said they could uninstall the hand controls but I would need to get the car from Ride Away to Charles Barker Toyota and back to Ride Away to complete the recall fix. He recommended that I talk to Charles Barker Toyota to ask whether they would pay for the uninstallation and reinstallation of the hand controls and drive the vehicle from Ride Away to Charles Barker and back to Ride Away. I talked with Charles Barker Toyota and they said they would cover any costs involved with the hand controls and drive the vehicle from Ride Away to Charles Barker Toyota and return after the steering Column fix was complete. Barry at Ride Away worked with Charles Barker Toyota to get the fix installed.

Barry went well beyond what was expected and made this fix possible for me. Also, when he reinstalled my hand controls he made a modification to the installation to insure that the controls did not rub on the dash panel.

I want to personally thank Barry for his superb service. Ride Away can be justifiably proud of the service he provided.
